Counseling vs. Coaching: Which one to choose?

It is understandable that counseling and health coaching can seem to be the same thing:

• ​Both help clients who want to make a behavioral change for the better.
• Both provide the client with full awareness of their current circumstance.
• Both serve as a resource and support to the client while working on the goal.
• Both provide one-on-one confidential interactions.

Here's where they differ though:

A counselor or therapist...	A health coach...
diagnoses mental and emotional issues (e.g. depression, OCD, etc.) that cause the current undesirable behavior.	does not diagnose the client.
explores and analyzes the client's past traumas and experiences to understand the current behavior (problem-oriented).	focuses on what the client wants to change and their current potential for a lasting change (goal-oriented).
is the expert and authority when interacting with the client.	serves as a guide, acknowledging the client as the expert on their own life.
may ask the client to share very personal information.	allows the client to share only as much as is comfortable.
